Last Thursday, I had the opportunity to attend Edcamp Marin. As I'm a brand new resident of the Bay Area, it was my very first Edcamp on the West Coast!
I had a fantastic day, and the team did a phenomenal job organizing their first event! With over 50 Edcampers, it was a great day of learning!
My biggest takeaways included:
- Sometimes smaller is better - I really enjoyed the small sessions and good conversations. With only 50 #eduawesome educators in attendance, I was able to have some really deep pedagogical conversations. No one dominated the conversation, and it was fantastic!
- A new location opens new doors- As I am new to the area, it was great to connect with educators native to the Bay Area. I learned a lot about current educational trends in California as well as the concerns that were similar to those in Philadelphia.
- There is more work to be done- Almost everyone at Edcamp Marin was a newbie to the Edcamp format. There is more work to do to ensure that any educator who is interested in collaborative learning has access to an Edcamp event!
Thank you to the team for a wonderful day!
